The priest stands and intones the ritual while a writhing horde encircles him, waiting to devour his flesh and shape his bones into something new. Thus transformed he crawls toward the edge of the void, opens a door, and wriggles aside to let the visitors shuffle past, basking with shining eyes in their slimy shadows.

A rather soothing yet ominous intro lures the listener into a pit of raging, raw USBM. Harsh, cold and echoing vocals add to the diabolical atmosphere: this EP feels quite depressive, but the excellent melodic riffs actually put a smile on my face. The dissonant bleakness of the first track is less weird and more hypnotic than on the second track. That's why I like it a little more. But both songs together make for an extraordinary experience and a journey to the arhythmically beating heart of darkness. mourner
